Open Enrollment for VCUHS Team Members Enrolled in COVA Care

The Commonwealth of Virginia has announced that Open Enrollment for your COVA Care health insurance plan will be held from May 1-15, 2019. Please read your 2019 Spotlight located on HR4U for more information about plan changes and rates for next year.

VCUHS Team Members making changes to their health insurance plan must submit Open Enrollment elections online in Employee Direct at by 5 p.m. on May 15.

Also, to earn Premium Rewards for the new plan year starting July 1, 2019, complete or update your health assessment between May 1 and May 15, 2019. Visit to complete or update your online health assessment or for more information about Premium Rewards. Changes to your COVA Care health plan become effective July 1, 2019.

Did You Know – Short Term Disability

VCU Health System provides Basic Short Term Disability (STD) insurance to all benefits-eligible team members at no cost. After a 14-day elimination period the plan provides a benefit of 50% of your base weekly salary up to $750.

Team members can purchase Voluntary STD insurance to increase their benefit to 60% of their base weekly salary up to a maximum of $1904. If you do not purchase Voluntary STD when first eligible, you will be required to provide proof of good health and will be subject to pre-existing condition limitations.

Mid-Year Vendor Fair and Open Enrollment for Legal Resources/Allstate Plans

The Mid-Year Vendor Fair and Open Enrollment for Legal Resources and Allstate Plans will be held June 3- June 14, 2019.  More details coming soon on HR4U!
